The Reinforce Self Advocacy Training Unit (or SATU for short) runs training workshops across Victoria.
All our training workshops are run by expert self-advocates! Our trainers are people with intellectual disabilities who have a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience in speaking up!
We offer 3 types of training workshops:
Training 1: How to be a Strong Self- Advocate
- This workshop is for people with intellectual disabilities. This workshop is FREE!
- This workshop will run for 2 hours
- This workshop can be delivered at group homes, supported accommodation or community groups – we come to you!
- This workshop will give information, advice and tips on speaking up!
Training 2: How to run a Self Advocacy Group
- This workshop is for self-advocacy groups. It is FREE!
- This workshop will run for 2 hours
- This workshop can be delivered at your self-advocacy group or at the local library – we will come to you!
- This workshop will give tips and information about how to run your own self-advocacy group! It will help self-advocacy groups get more members, run meetings and make big decisions.
Training 3: Staff Training
- This workshop is for staff who work with people with intellectual disabilities.
- This workshop will run for 2 hours
- This workshop can be delivered at your workplace – we come to you!
- This workshop will help staff understand what it is like for people with intellectual disabilities. The trainers will give tips on how a service can be more inclusive and accessible.
