About This Project
This project is called My House, My Home, My Rights.
It is made by people with intellectual disability.
It is made for people with intellectual disability.
The project helps people who live in supported accommodation.
It also helps the staff who work there.
What We Want to Do
1. Make better training
We are updating old training.
We will make new videos, new resources, and new information about:
- the NDIS
- housing issues
- using technology
- LGBTQIA+ inclusion
2. Co-design the project with people who have intellectual disabilities
We want to work together with people with intellectual disability at every step of the project.
This means people with intellectual disabilities will help with:
- research
- the training design
- the filming and resources
- delivering the training sessions
This project also gives paid jobs to our peer workers and peer mentor, helping them build skills, confidence and work experience.
What We Want to Change
Help residents feel more confident
We want people living in group homes to:
- know their rights
- understand their choices
- feel safe to speak up
- feel respected at home
Help staff treat people better
We want staff in supported accommodations to:
- show respect
- listen more
- understand people’s rights
- support people to speak up
Why This Project Matters?
People with intellectual disabilities should:
- have control in their own home
- be treated with respect
- be part of decisions that affect their life
- have their voices heard
We believe this project can help make this happen
